More Paper Buildings part 2...

After talking with my friend Dick Bradley via the comments I decided to go back and see if I can work out a way to get white window panes.  What I wound up doing was taking the window drawing and opening up in Photo Shop.  Using the invert function to change the black panes to white, and the window glass to black.  I then cropped the picture and saved it as a tif file.  I then copied the window and pasted it onto the hotel drawing replacing the black ones.

The modifications complete and I like the way it looks.

Dick also asked about what pictures I used to get the look I was trying to achieve so I'll share them here.  Art Kuperstein, editor of the Society's Timetable magazine provided these to me and they were a big help.

Last night I was OK with 85% accurate, but today I think I got it close to 90% and I'm pleased. :)

More Paper Buildings...

I made a new friend a couple of months ago online.  He is a reader of this blog and his name is Paul Egri.  Paul saw my efforts in using Clever Models textures to make buildings and offered advice and help.  We talked on the phone and through email and I've learned a lot how to use the Clever textures to make custom buildings with Windows Paint.  That's right, Paint.  After a little practice I think I'm getting the hang of it.  Today I spent about 5 hours on and off working on a flat of the hotel in Yoe and I submit it here for your approval.  It's not 100% accurate, but I'll take 85% and call it a day. ;)

I need to add a few more small details but I think it came out good and I enjoyed working on it.  Let me know what you think.

Check out Jim Fawcett's B&O Old main blog..

My friend Jim Fawcett models the B&O Railroads Old Main circa 1960.  He's been building for awhile and now has just recently joined the blogospere and started a blog about the layout.  The blog is well done, just like everything else Jim sets out to do (just look at his bench work and you'll see what I mean).

Though I operate on a couple of C&O layouts I have more of a soft spot for the B&O.  I look forward to seeing what Jim is doing via the blog.  Check it out:

I've also linked to his blog in my blog list to the right.

The Answer is...

Despite Art Kuperstein's claim the "Where is this Wednesday" picture was on his last layout, this scene is actually located at the Ben Roy Station, between York and Red Lion PA.  According to sources, a mud slide caused this derailment.  Thanks for playing! :)
